Each year we have a Sea Kayaking Guide and Instructor Training Course.
What you’ll learn:

- Group Management & leadership on the water
- Paddle technique with eight hours of paddling time.
- Rescues instruction
- Repair & Maintenance
- Communications
- Surf instruction
This is all bought together with a weekend paddling expedition.
This comprehensive training courses will take the keen paddler who has mastered the following courses;
Sea Kayaking Skills Course
Kayak Rolling Tuition (not required for sit-on-top)
Kayak Surfing Course
Kayak Surfing Course
Oceans Course
First Aid Training (outsourced)
Day Skippers (with Coastguard)
VHF Course (with Coastguard)
This course will allow the participants to develop the skills and knowledge to sit the NZKI Instructors Award or an NZQA Kayak Leader or Sea Kayak Leader Award. It will set you up to sit any Sea Kayak Guide or Instructor assessment you wish, with the skills and knowledge to succeed.
Held over the month, you will learn the breakdown of strokes and skills, develop the ability to recognise areas of improvement in people, you are coaching and the steps to allow them to develop to their full potential.
You will get to work with many customers in a supervised situation. Plenty of feedback will be given.
There is an extensive amount to cover both on the water and on paper so bring your “A-Game” and find out just how much fun working in the outdoors can be.
This course is ideal for anyone who is thinking of a career in the outdoors or is currently employed in the outdoors and wishes to upskill or cross-train.
