Full House

Released for Spade’s 10-year anniversary in 2024 they released their 10th whitewater kayak.

The Full House is a new, modern creek boat which comes with all the rocker you need to keep your spraydeck dry on all those features that usually push you around. Despite its rocker the Full House is a fast boat because the designers bumped up its length to 284 cm. This tweaks the waterline to strike a comfortable balance between speed, agility, and the ability to keep the bow up on top of pillows and over holes for a smooth ride.

With an overall width of 70 cm, it offers a stable platform without being susceptible to side currents, curlers and the likes. This is helped by softened chines. The tail is slim enough to load it slightly while on edge and lift the bow even higher. As always, we tried to keep the cockpit and knee area out of the paddler’s way as much as possible.

At 360 L this is a big boat that doesn’t feel massive or bulky, but it will allow for a wide range of paddler weights and still offer enough space for all your multi-day and expedition needs.

Outfitting

When fitting out the boat, they focussed consistently on ergonomics and weight optimisation: Thanks to the smart design of parts, they have created a sturdy cockpit for a direct and ergonomic interface between the paddler and the boat’s hull. The footrest, thigh braces, seat, hip pads and backrest are all tailored to the ergonomics of a paddler for an untiring day on the river.

Backrest adjustment, like with all other Spade Kayaks, works through a rope and cam cleats system. This is super solid and easy to repair on the go if the rope snaps when out on the river. Ratchet style backrest adjustment is available as an aftermarket accessory for extra cost, but you won’t need it – cam cleats are well established and work reliably when the correct rope type is used.

Their fully integrated seat-rail-tower combo enables ergonomic seating over long periods on the water. The tower supports the cockpit area in pinned situations and over large drops. It also can be used as an emergency step for a safe exit in critical situations.
