Itinerary

The Coastal Brewery Paddle is a relaxed, scenic sea kayaking experience designed for families, friends, and workmates looking for something active yet social.

Launching from Waiake Beach, you’ll paddle approximately 2 km along the coastline, exploring rocky reefs and the distinctive cliffs of the North Shore. This easy, one-way route follows the coast with simple navigation and plenty of opportunities to stop, explore, and take in views of Rangitoto Island and the surrounding islands of the Hauraki Gulf.

Your paddle finishes at Browns Bay, a wide sandy beach ideal for swimming, beach walks, and relaxing. After landing, you’re welcome to use the nearby changing facilities before heading over to Browns Bay Brewing Company to enjoy the rest of your afternoon or evening (restaurant bookings made separately).

With all gear provided, experienced guides, and a convenient shuttle included, this trip is all about easy logistics, great scenery, and a guaranteed good time.

Who Can Join in:

This tour is suitable for children aged 11 years and over. Younger children (7+) may be permitted in suitable conditions, provided each child is accompanied by an adult.

Our standard kayaks in our fleet will take most paddlers pretty well! However, if you weigh over 120 kg, please let us know so we can make sure that we can best accommodate you with a comfortable time while on tour with us!

What to Bring?

  • Swimwear and towel
  • Warm extra layers (avoid cotton or denim)
  • Lightweight windbreaker or raincoat
  • Well-fitting wet shoes or old sand shoes (plus walking shoes)
  • Water bottle
  • Personal medication
  • Waterproof camera and polarised sunglasses
  • Spare warm clothes to change into afterwards

Spring & Autumn (Oct, Nov, Mar, Apr): bring extra warm layers and a beanie.

Please Note

If you’re heading to Browns Bay Brewing Company (off Beach Front Lane) to enjoy food and drinks after your tour, a t-shirt and footwear are required if entering the brewery. Restaurant bookings are made separately.

However, you must follow our instructions and use the provided safety equipment at all times. Adults accompanying any person under the age of 18 must ensure the underage person follows our instructions at all times. You must release or indemnify Canoe & Kayak and our staff against any liability we incur to anyone else, resulting from your failure to follow our instructions or the failure of any person accompanying you under the age of 18 to follow our instructions.
We reserve the right to withdraw any person who in our opinion is likely to endanger themselves or others. We also reserve the right to cancel the tour if we become concerned for any reason for your safety or that of any other person.
WARNING: Under New Zealand law it is extremely unlikely that you will be able to sue anyone if you are injured. In Addition, New Zealand’s accident compensation scheme provides only limited assistance to visitors to New Zealand who are injured. We strongly recommend that all visitors to New Zealand have full insurance covering any injury they might suffer, including medical treatment cover, before undertaking this activity.

This exclusion is subject to any rights or remedies you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
